On the 14th of July, representatives of the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) visited the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG), where the two institutions formally signed a Letter of Cooperation and an Internship Agreement.

This new partnership is aimed at fostering academic collaboration, research and professional development.

The Brussels School of Governance (BSoG), affiliated with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), is a leading academic institution located in the heart of the European Union and dedicated to interdisciplinary education and research in governance, public policy and international affairs. Through its internationally accredited programmes, BSoG equips students with the analytical skills and critical thinking needed to address today’s complex global challenges, while bringing together academics, policymakers and practitioners to foster dialogue, research and innovative solutions in an evolving international environment.

The Letter of Cooperation establishes a framework for collaboration across a broad range of activities, including the exchange of Subject Matter Experts for conferences, seminars and training events, the development of joint research projects and publications, and the identification of topics of common interest for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies.

Complementing this framework, the Internship Agreement allows BSoG students to join the NATO SFA COE Internship Programme, where they can gain practical experience in an international military environment while working alongside the Centre’s personnel. The initiative supports the application of academic knowledge in a professional setting, helping participants strengthen their skills and develop a deeper understanding of Security Force Assistance within a multinational context.

Through such initiatives, the NATO SFA COE continues to expand its network of academic partnerships, reinforcing its role as NATO’s hub for expertise in Security Force Assistance while supporting education and professional growth.
