The SFA Advisors’ Enhancement Seminar 2025, organized by the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE), took place from the 8th to the 11th of April at the ITA Army Infantry School.
The seminar kicked off with team building activities designed to break the ice and encourage interaction among participants. This was followed by an insightful lesson on the US perspective regarding Security Force Assistance, with a specific focus on the Brigade level.
Among the key topics, the following received particular attention:
– insights onto NMI‘s capacity-building efforts to achieve strategic long-lasting results and how advisors support and develop the building of the institutional competencies.
– Strategies for enhancing the ability to make really effective the working relationships and maximize the impact as advisors.
– The importance of assessing the operational environment to support strategic decision-making in Security Force Assistance and defence contexts.
– Role-play activities, where participants were trained as advisors, aimed to teach them how to employ an interpreter while facing challenges such as language barriers, emotional nuances, cultural differences, and unexpected circumstances.
The event wrapped up with an engaging discussion that explored the diverse ideas and perspectives presented throughout the sessions. Participants gained valuable insights and networking connections, while joining with our Community of Interest and laying the grounds for future collaborations.
