On the 14th of December, a NATO SFA COE delegation met with the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations. Also attending were the NATO SP COE Director and United Nations Department for Peace Operations (DPO) representatives.

Following the opening speech by the Italian Deputy Permanent Representative, Amb. Stefano Stefanile, and the Head of the NATO Liaison Office at the UN, Amb. Michal Miarka, each of the NATO SP COE Director and the NATO SFA COE Director briefed those present about the main activities of their respective centres in the training sector and the potential for collaboration with the relevant United Nations structure.

The meeting ended with an open discussion with the DPO delegation aimed at better understanding, inter alia, how the NATO SFA COE could support the UN entities focusing on Security Sector Reform, integrating with the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) processes and across crisis response scenarios.

NATO SFA COE has a paramount role to expand the capabilities of not  only NATO and its partners, but of all the International Organizations by providing comprehensive expertise and support in the area of Security Force Assistance and in achieving stability and security.
