On the 28th of November 2023, the Rear Admiral Placido Torresi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Force Development (DCOS JFD) of the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) visited the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE)

The Joint Force Development (JFD) is an essential component of NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT).

It is the engine room of warfare development, applying concepts, lessons, modelling and simulation, operational experimentation and human capital to improve interoperability and enhance capabilities of ACT.

The aim of the visit was to provide Rear Admiral with an update and a general overview on the current and future activities of the NATO SFA COE and foster the relationship between the COE and ACT.

The meeting started with the welcome of the NATO SFA COE Director who provided an overview of the Centre, its vision and mission and how it fulfils its role in assisting the Alliance, by supporting NATO’s capability development process, mission effectiveness, and interoperability by providing comprehensive and timely expertise on SFA.

Afterward, the staff delved deeper into the most relevant projects and activities, focusing specifically on those that stem from ACT’s Request for Support.

The visit ended with the signing of the Roll of Honour by Rear Admiral Placido Torresi, who expressed his appreciation for the high profile of the projects and activities.

This meeting once again highlights the importance of a close connection between the NATO SFA COE and ACT, as they support each other and provide expertise and knowledge in specific areas of mutual interest.
