On the 11th of December, the NATO SFA COE Director held a VTC meeting with the Commander of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG), Brigadier General Aristeidis ILIOPOULOS.

The South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) is currently a brigade-size formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area, and to foster cooperation among the South-Eastern European countries.

The Force will be available for possible employment in UN or OSCE-mandated NATO-led or EU-led conflict prevention and other peace support operations.

The goals of the virtual meeting were to explore future collaboration between the two organizations, finding common approaches in their activities.

During the VTC, the SEEBRIG Commander and the NATO SFA COE Director presented their respective organization’s mission, vision, structure, main activities and perspectives for the future.

The mail topics discussed were:

  • mutual participation in Educational and Training exercises and events;
  • the opportunity for the SEEBRIG personnel to join in the courses provided by the NATO SFA COE such as the “SFA Operators Course”, the “Institutional Advisor course” and the “NATO Advisory course;
  • exchange of Subject Matter Experts in relevant activities and events, for example workshops, conferences and seminars.

The meeting was very fruitful and both organizations believe in the benefits of this cooperation and recognise the importance of the international collaboration for a further achievement of common goals.
