On the 18th of April, the Commander of the NATO School Oberammergau (NSO), Col. Jay SMITH, accompanied by his Special Advisor, Col. Carlo CAVALLI, paid a visit to the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE).

The NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) conducts education and training in support of current and developing NATO operations, strategy, policy, doctrine and procedures.

The aim of the meeting was to consolidate the partnership between the two entities, which began with an agreement signed in May of last year that signalled the mutual support for each other’s educational activities and relevant events such as exercises, courses, seminars and workshops through the exchange of Subject Matters Experts as lectures, researchers and mentors.

During the meeting, the Director, Col Massimo DI PIETRO, presented the Centre and the other collaborations with civil and military bodies and illustrated the development of the NATO SFA COE’s projects and the relevant activities carried out along the three lines of efforts, in particular all those concerning the education and training in support of NATO Operations.

The visit ended with an exchange of gifts and the signing of the Roll of Honour by the NSO Commander.

At the end of the meeting, Colonel SMITH expressed his appreciation for the interesting presentation and relevant projects, highlighting how the collaboration between the two entities could be an added value in conducting Education and Training exercises and events for the benefit of the whole Alliance.
